Shober & Rock, P.C. has guided Bucks County families through life's most challenging legal transitions for over 30 years — from Medicaid planning to estate administration.
A Bucks County law firm devoted to the legal needs of individuals facing long-term health care issues — and the families who care for them.
Elder law is not defined by technical legal distinctions — it is defined by the client to be served. At Shober & Rock, that means individuals facing long-term health care issues: nursing home care, assisted living, and at-home care. We have developed a variety of specialized legal tools and techniques to meet their unique goals and objectives.
Using a holistic approach, we address the client's needs first — seeking a legal solution that works for our client, their family, and their caretaker. This custom approach means better outcomes and more satisfied clients.
We assist in determining capacity and acuity level, coordinating private and public resources to finance appropriate care, and ensuring every client's right to quality care. We bring a broad understanding of the laws affecting each situation — anticipating future challenges before they arise.
We address our client's needs, the family's concerns, and the caretaker's role together — not in isolation.
We help families navigate both private and public funding options — from Medicaid to Veterans benefits — to finance the right level of care.
No two families are alike. We develop tailored strategies that anticipate future challenges and protect what matters most.
We offer a full range of elder law and estate planning services tailored to seniors, disabled individuals, and their families.
Decades of combined experience serving Bucks County families with care, expertise, and personal attention.
Len graduated with honors from Temple University School of Law in 1986, where he received the prestigious Bureau of National Affairs (BNA) Award for scholastic excellence. He went on to complete his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation at Temple in 1994, immediately establishing an estate and tax practice focused on the needs of the elderly and disabled.
Before law school, Len earned a Psychology degree from LaSalle University (cum laude) and worked as a social worker, therapist, and family counselor at Eagleville Hospital and Interim House for Women. That counseling background shapes everything about how he works with elderly clients and families navigating crisis.
Len is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Renee is an attorney and partner at Shober & Rock, concentrating her practice in Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Estate Administration. She graduated from Widener University School of Law in 2000, and holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Arcadia University and a degree in Paralegal Studies from Manor College.
Her diverse academic background — spanning business, legal studies, and law — gives her a well-rounded perspective when advising clients on the financial and legal dimensions of estate and elder law matters.
Renee is a member of the American Bar Association, the ABA Section on Real Property, Probate and Trusts, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Elder Law Committee, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Bucks County Bar Association.
Alice joined Shober & Rock in 2004 and brings over 25 years of experience in estate and trust administration, asset valuation, fiduciary accounting, and preparation of probate documents and related tax returns. She holds a B.A. from West Chester University and a Paralegal Certificate in Estates and Trusts from the Institute for Paralegal Training in Philadelphia, earned in 1990.
Her path to law began early — Alice's grandfather, Karl Donecker, was a prominent attorney in the Lehigh Valley, and she interned in his office on legal matters starting in high school. She credits his mentoring for her hallmark attention to detail and commitment to old-fashioned quality legal work.
Alice is proficient in the Lackner 6-in-1 estate administration system and has trained other paralegals in its use. She also assists on asset transfers, beneficiary designations, and other technical elder law matters. Alice and founding attorney Len Shober met at McTighe, Weiss, Bacine & O'Rourke, married in 1993, and have three children — none of whom are remotely interested in the legal field.
Christine brings a rare insider's perspective to elder law and long-term care planning. Her career began in Nursing Home Administration, where she managed the financial and clinical operations of skilled nursing facilities — giving her expert-level understanding of how Medicare and Medicaid work from the provider's side.
Today she navigates five-year look-back audits, asset protection strategies, and the Medicaid application process with clinical precision. Her background means she understands the Minimum Data Set (MDS), medical necessity criteria, and the internal pressures facilities face — allowing her to advocate for clients with technical authority few in the legal field possess.
